Congratulations to this year’s Archdiocese of Detroit Excellence in Teaching award recipients: Mrs. Reichert and Mr. Hale! Each year, the Archdiocese of Detroit’s Office of Catholic schools offers an opportunity for its teachers to be recognized for their consistent efforts, touching the hearts, souls, and minds of students. One elementary/middle school teacher from the academy and one secondary teacher may be nominated by their peers.

Mrs. Reichert teaches junior kindergarten, and her own faith kindles in her students a love for Jesus. “She has also been a positive support for her fellow faculty and parents, especially those who are going through rough times.”

Mr. Hale teaches theology and philosophy to Everest high school students. “It is unusual for students to offer testimony of their growth in faith without prompting, but this year, and over the past few years, a handful of our students have offered feedback regarding their spiritual growth or their intention to stay faithful to the Church because of their studies with Mr. Hale. He is known to be a challenging academic teacher, but whether it is through his extraordinary efforts to guide student research or his daily effort to engage his students in knowing, articulating, defending, and deepening their faith, Mr. Hale is a teacher who is making a demonstrable difference.  He focused on providing his students with truth.”
