The Everest high school formation team was pleased to support students in their apostolic formation by offering them hands-on moments to practice this mindset of Christ-like service and self-giving. All high school students participated in EC Mountaineer Mission Day on Wednesday, April 6. The day began with Mass, and each student received a missionary cross as they went out to spread Christ’s love.
Freshmen were unable to go to their originally scheduled destination which involved outdoor yard work due to the rain, but stayed on campus organizing activities for younger students, making hygiene packs for The Empowerment Plan, and making plastic yarn for DRAW.
A few freshmen shared their experience of the day:
“I changed my view about helping. It is good, and it feels good.”
“I was changed because I couldn’t be rowdy like I can be with my friends. I had to be gentle and think about what I said so I didn’t ruin the innocence of kids. God taught me what it is like to b a guide of a more innocent soul.”
Sophomores went to visit the elderly at Lourdes Senior Center. They sang songs and visited with the residents.
Juniors and seniors divided between D.R.A.W., The Well, and Lighthouse of Oakland County to prepare packages for natural disasters, yard clean-up, and packing food boxes.
