This year, the theme for the annual B16 Tournament sponsored by Everest and ECYD was “I call you friends” (Jn 15:15). The theme was chosen for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of ECYD, an international youth association in which members make a pledge of friendship with Christ and each other to build up a new world according to the Gospel. It also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Everest Collegiate High School & Academy, in which students, faculty, and staff are focusing on the charism given by God through ECYD and Regnum Christi, with Christ-centeredness and apostolate being some of the main elements.
Besides playing soccer, basketball, and hockey Friday evening and Saturday, the girls had a chapel visit turn in which they reflected on how Jesus is their friend, they made lunches for homeless people in the service project room, and learned a dance for the new ECYD song in the ECYD room.
One girls from each division won the B16 award, nominated by other students, coaches, and volunteers for their kindness, helpfulness, and positive attitude. These girls won a $100 scholarship for the ECYD summer camp: Minis Division: Ella Cross, Junior Division: Mary Groves, Senior Division: Susan Nedwick. Congratulations on a great weekend!
