This year, EC student government proposed replacing the annual EC 5K for a Cause with a new opportunity called the “Gomez Games”.  For a few years, the students have wanted to bring back field day for high school students and also wanted to host a tournament similar to the B16 and JPII tournaments that run through ECYD. The games were named in honor of Everest cofounder, Fr. Lorenzo Gomez, LC.

The day began with Mass celebrated by Fr. Gomez who happened to be in town for the priestly ordination of Fr. Jeremy Schupbach ’14. After Mass, the teams – each composed of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen – competed in dodgeball, kickball, and a games stations as well as a station where they participated in a team devotion to Our Lady. The day ended with lunch. The students had a lot of fun and look forward to participating again in the future.
