When Everest first opened its high school, homecoming week was held in the winter during basketball season for lack of a football team. Since then, homecoming week has moved to the fall complete with spirit week, powderpuff, and more. 2020 was a unique homecoming year, but Mountaineers made the most of it. Particularly absent was the “coming home” of Mountaineer alum, but even they joined from afar sending good wishes to EC students.

The week began with a class scavenger hunt on Monday afternoon. Students could be found all over campus completing challenges and working their way toward a final treat.

Seniors watched the sunrise on Wednesday morning while enjoying donuts on the athletic field.

Powderbuff was held on Wednesday out on the athletic field. The varsity volleyball team prevailed over the senior boys.

Friday brought the annual powderpuff game. Competition was fierce, as always, and the upperclassmen ladies won 21-14 over the underclassmen. The chariot race was held at halftime with the junior class earning the pizza party reward.

Fans, court, and the homecoming dance were missing, but the Mountaineer football team beat Comstock Park 19-7 on Friday evening. Mountaineers fans are looking forward to supporting their team within the limits of the latest regulations at upcoming games. Go Mountaineers!
