Michael Leahy

“Throughout the month of December, students have been practicing the virtue of obedience. What is obedience? Students in the fourth grade have offered their ideas and said that obedience is listening to others, showing respect, being truthful, and doing what’s right when no one is looking. December is the ideal month for this virtue because we have the greatest role model for living obediently: Mary. Mary chose to accept God’s call in her life. Mary showed us that we can be like her. We can humbly offer our ‘yes, Lord. May it be as You said.’

Michael Leahy is a student in the fourth grade who practiced the virtue of obedience this month. Michael is respectful, truthful, listens to the teacher and to his classmates, and always tries to do what is right. Michael does all these things with a positive attitude and kind spirit. Michael shows us each day that, like Mary, when we have love and faith in the Lord, we can answer God’s call of obedience to better serve Him. It is with honor that I nominate Michael Leahy as this month’s Mountaineer of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher

Ava Pruchnicki

“I am nominating Ava for obedience because she listens to the voice of God. Ava will do what she is told and do it the right way, all the way, in a happy way. She is thoughtful and will ask to spend time in the chapel. Her kindness is a role model for her peers and her leadership will bring them to God.” -Mrs. Barone, Fifth-Grade Teacher

Roman Valentino

“I am nominating Roman for obedience because he will obey his parents and teachers with a smile on his face. Roman shows kindness and love to his peers. He also shows that he is listening to God’s voice because he understands what is right and wrong.” -Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teacher
