Congratulations to our August Mountaineers of the Month! The August recipients demonstrated the virtue of self-discipline. The September recipients demonstrated the virtue of charity.

Darci Walker

“Darci is quick to do what is asked of her and waits patiently for her classmates to follow suit. She is always quick to help her friends, but still knows how to stay focused and on task. In these short few weeks of junior kindergarten, Darci has already been a wonderful example to her peers of self-discipline and managing her time in the most effective way.” -Mrs. Reichert, Junior Kindergarten Teacher

Elizabeth Taykowski

“I would like to recognize Elizabeth Taykowski for the virtue of self-discipline.  Elizabeth is always listening when the teacher is talking.  She waits her turn and does not fight with her classmates.  She is willing to give her time whether it is helping a teacher or a classmate who is struggling.” -Mrs. McGrath, Kindergarten Teacher

Margaret Green

“Maggie Green demonstrates the virtue of self-discipline on a daily basis. She is an excellent role model and leader for following classroom rules. Maggie is a hard worker and always puts forth her best. She is always attentive when someone is speaking. Maggie helps and shares with others.” -Mrs. Van Pelt, First-Grade Teacher

Stella Ioco

“Each school year, students move to a new classroom, meet a new teacher, learn a new set of expectations, learn a new, tougher curriculum, and sometimes meet new friends. With all these changes, it can be hard to remember practicing the virtues, especially self-discipline, which is August’s virtue of the month. However, with all changes and learning that go along with starting a new school year, one student is known for her ability to adjust, remain focused, challenge herself, and to make the best of every situation. Stella Ioco came to fourth grade ready to learn and to be challenged. She consistently puts forth her best effort, always has a smile on her face, listens and is attentive in class, and is always wanting to be challenged. She also consistently reaches out and is willing to help when and wherever it is needed. It is with great honor that I nominate Stella Ioco as this month’s Mountaineer of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher

Bradley Farrell

“Bradley is new to our school, but already stands out as a student who displays self-discipline in his interactions with others and his schoolwork.  Bradley controls himself, follows rules and stays focused, which are all characteristics of one who is self-disciplined.” -Mrs. Barone, Fifth-Grade Teacher

Branden Sandeen

“Branden displays self-discipline when he approaches his schoolwork both in school and at home.  He will take the time needed to complete his work correctly the first time or sacrificing things he prefers to do. I know he will use this same approach with all new endeavors.” -Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teacher
