Marco Attard

“‘Perseverance is our ability to pursue a goal or passion over time and stick with it if we encounter obstacles or setbacks. Perseverance is synonymous with the qualities of resilience, motivation, drive, determination, grit, passion, and conscientiousness’ (psychologytoday.com). Prior to COVID, students had the ability to see and interact with their friends every day. They got to come to school in the mornings and be greeted by a smiling teacher who couldn’t wait to give the lessons of the day and show them the love of Christ. During COVID, children went from seeing their friends every day and learning in the classroom to having to distance themselves with friends and learn from home. When the pandemic ended, children with varying life circumstances were moved back into the classroom. During this time, all students have had to show a profound amount of perseverance and resilience. Marco Attard is one student who has shown perseverance and resilience. While some days were a struggle to transition back to school, Marco ALWAYS persevered. With the support of his teachers and friends, he always found the strength to put forth his best each and every day. Marco works hard in the classroom, is friendly and kind to students and staff, and always has a smile on his face to be a light for others. It is with a great honor that I nominate Marco Attard as this month’s Mountaineer of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher

Luke McClintick

“I would like to nominate Luke McClintick for the virtue of perseverance.  Luke has worked extremely hard to improve general scores despite a couple of setbacks.” -Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teacher

Meghan Sasak

“I would like to nominate Meghan Sasak for the virtue of perseverance.  Meghan has done well all year, jumped right in with both feet, and scored high despite being in a new school environment.” -Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teacher

Mr. Cross

“Mr. Cross is a great example of perseverance.  He was very persistent by seeking an opportunity to be recognized by his peers and never gave up.  Even when he wasn’t recognized, he remained calm.  Mr. Cross gives 100% in everything that he does!” -The Elementary Teachers
