She comes to school every day ready to work and turns in quality work. She works well in a group and never gives up.” -Mrs. Ohlinger, Third-Grade Teacher

Amy Walker & Luke McClintick

“American poet and author Maya Angelou said, ‘You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.’ Two people in the fourth grade came to mind when thinking about Maya Angelou’s words and how they are analogous with this month’s virtue, which is perseverance. Amy Walker and Luke McClintick both personify perseverance. Amy and Luke persevere in athletic events, in their schoolwork and wanting to always improve, in their knowledge and understanding of concepts and of themselves, and they persevere in their longing to be the best version of themselves. It is with great honor that I nominate both Amy Walker and Luke McClintick as this month’s Mountaineers of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher

Chaz Boyer, Vincent Mirjah, Rachel Seibt, & Rachel Luginski

“We would like to nominate Chaz Boyer, Vincent Mirjah, Rachel Seibt, and Rachel Luginski for the virtue of perseverance.  Each of these students have worked steadily throughout this school year to continually improve their academic skills.  Even when they wished to have done better, they didn’t give up, but rather kept on trying.” -Mrs. Trepkowski & Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teachers
