November Mountaineers of the month were recognized during Wednesday’s spirit assembly for living the virtue of gratitude. Congratulations!

James Stencel

“James is a beautiful example of gratefulness to his classmates.  James is usually the first one to say, “please and thank you!”.  In fact, “please and thank you” is how he starts every request to his teacher. He is very polite and eager to help his friends when they need it. He is also always ready to congratulate his friends when they win or have done something great.” -Mrs. Reichert, Junior Kindergarten Teacher

Maxwell Leahy

“Whether I am passing out papers or holding the door open, Max always says thank you to me.  He communicates well with his friends and is always thankful for the time he has with them.  Max, also, comes into school each day with a smile ready to learn.” -Mrs. McGrath, Kindergarten Teacher

Caroline Dale

“Caroline has a deep appreciation and awareness of the love God has for her and the gifts she has received from Him. She expresses thanks to God and shares her gratitude with others.  Caroline shows gratitude in the classroom by always saying please and thank you. She demonstrates a love and appreciation for learning daily.” -Mrs. Van Pelt, First-Grade Teacher

Wesley Haezebrouck

“Wesley exemplifies gratitude on a daily basis.  He walks in with a smile on his face every day and is so grateful to be in school. He loves to learn and is always excited to take on any new task. He appreciates even the smallest of things done for him and is always there with a thank you.” -Mrs. Van Pelt, First-Grade Teacher

Rodolfo Torres Naranjo

“Rudy consistently shows gratitude day-in and day-out to his peers and to his teacher.  He always finds a way to show his gratitude to others whether it be a kind word, writing a thank you letter, or giving back to someone in need. He is always looking for ways to show others that he is grateful for them. Our class is definitely grateful to have Rudy, a champion for gratitude, in our class.” -Miss Gjokaj, Second-Grade Teacher

Dominik Dziekonski
“Dominik is always very thoughtful and always uses his manners. He is always willing to help and give of his time and supplies to his classmates.” -Mrs. Radich, Religion Teacher

Samuel Earnhardt

“According to Dictionary.com, gratitude means “the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.” Samuel Earnhardt consistently shows the virtue of gratitude every day. Whether it’s a simple “hi” in the morning or in the halls or a “thank you” for something given to him in the classroom, Samuel always shows appreciation. Alphose Karr once stated, “Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.” This is how Samuel lives out each day in the classroom. Could he grumble about something? Sure. But that’s not who Samuel is. He continually looks for the best in every situation and expresses gratitude while doing so. It is with great honor that I nominate Samuel Earnhardt as this month’s Mountaineer of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher

Vinay Iyer

“Vinay is always very thoughtful and always uses his manners. He is always willing to help and give of his time and supplies to his classmates.” -Mrs. Radich, Religion Teacher

Amy Walker

“At the beginning of this month, the fourth-grade students brainstormed what gratitude means and ways to show gratitude. Their ideas included using their manners by saying “please” and “thank you,” being thankful for what you have, giving to the needy, smiling, showing respect, and doing things for one another. Amy Walker embodies all of these qualities and more. John F. Kennedy once said, “We must find time to stop and thank people who make a difference in our lives.” Amy finds the time “to stop and thank” the people in her life. Whether it’s her classroom teacher, peers, consecrated women, or priests, Amy takes the time to “stop” and thank them for all that they do. It is my privilege to nominate Amy Walker as this month’s Mountaineer of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher

Ella Baron

“Ella Baron is wonderful example of gratitude.  She is hardworking and always polite with a positive attitude.  She is always willing to use her foreign language skills to help other students succeed.” -Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teacher

Vincent Cross

“Vincent Cross is a wonderful example of gratitude.  He always has a positive and joyful attitude and wants to learn. He gives his best effort on all things and shows kindness to everyone.” -Mr. Sapienza, Fifth-Grade Teacher
