High school students presented forensics pieces, and six finalists advances to the final competition. Kathleen Thibodeau, Caroline Beggs, and Theresa Waller presented in the category of prose. Amelia Shripka, Diego Kittinger, and Sawyer Arbogast presented in the category of oratory. Pieces presented included excerpts from Prince Caspian, Robert F. Kennedy’s statement on the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the Grito de Dolores, and more. Winners were awarded the $100 St. John Chrysostom Scholarship. Sophomore Amelia Shripka was the winner of the oratory category with a moving inspirational speech by Nick Vijucic. Freshman Kathleen Thibodeau won in the prose category with her excerpt from Rapunzel.
