November 1 is All Saints’ Day. Every year Everest Academy elementary student dress up as saints. As this year’s feast day fell on Sunday, the students dressed up on Friday. Eighth-grade students prepare carnival-like games for the younger students each year. They did a great job adapting the activities to COVID restrictions. Students rotated through the activities by grades, and while students weren’t participating in activities they enjoyed watching a movie about the life of a saint.
The day began with Mass. Students had prepared for the day by presenting biographies of saints in their religion classes. Middle school students worked on an exhibit about the life of Blessed Carlo who was recently beatified. The video below includes some of their favorite things that they learn as well as explanations of Eucharistic miracles. Blessed Carlo died at only 15 years old and was compiling the stories of Eucharistic miracles. Students enjoyed learning more about a young man who is on the path to sainthood as such a young age.
Some faculty and staff even joined in the fun and dressed up as saints! It was a great day to be a Mountaineer!
