The annual retreat for the junior boys focused on the theme of  “Mission”.  The boys learned about the importance of being men who go and give of themselves to others. The retreat began with a talk from Everest parent, Marek DziekoÅ„ski. He spoke about his time as a Regnum Christi Missionary in his youth and how his experiences helped him grow as a young man. The evening ended with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

The next day, the boys went to Grace Centers of Hope to help out with the young children in the day care center. Since it was warm enough to play outside, the boys spent an hour playing in a snow-covered playground with children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. It was hard to tell who was having more fun, the high school boys or children in the day care center. The idea for that outing was to give the students a chance to create fun moments for these children whose parents are residents at the center. After finishing up at Grace Centers of Hope, the juniors enjoyed a snack at Tim Horton’s. The group then headed back to Subiaco and wrapped up the retreat with a final discussion about the importance of being men who give of themselves to others in need. The retreat ended with Mass and lunch.

EC junior, Jack Roddy had the following to say about the retreat: “The retreat deepened my connection with Christ and instilled a profound sense of peace, allowing me to focus solely on my faith and disregard the distractions of the outside world.”
