Upon the announcement that schools were closed for the rest of the year, headmaster and high school principal Greg Reichert wrote a letter to the Class of 2020 in early April.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about all of you, and the central message that I want for all of you to know is that you truly are an amazing class. In fact, I believe that you are the class that doesn’t “deserve” to have the normal ending to your senior year wrested from you in this way. Certainly, we could all ask the question of whether this experience is deserved or not, but the answers to that question will no doubt elude us. I am confident, however, that there is full truth in a statement that I’m sure you’ve heard before. “The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you.” God DOES have this; He knows the plan, and each one of you is woven into that plan in a profound and beautiful way. Truly, even with the hardship that you face as a class right now, I find peace in the fact that your collective character has proven to me and to the Everest faculty that this faith and this knowledge is not lost on you. We all find ourselves at a unique point in history, one that presents real and difficult challenges for each of us… God has great plans for and through EACH one of you!
Class of 2020, until we can honor you in person, we celebrate each of virtually! Congratulations!
