This Easter break, Everest’s international program embarked on a journey that brought together faith, culture, and community, beginning in Lourdes and continuing through the rich landscapes of northern Spain. After traveling from Michigan to Toulouse, students made their way to Lourdes, where the heart of the trip quickly took shape. During the days leading up to Easter, they entered fully into the rhythm of Holy Week, participating in the traditions and liturgies that make this time so meaningful in the life of the Church. On Good Friday, students walked the Way of the Cross, prayed the Rosary at the Grotto, and took part in the solemn commemorations of the day.

Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday brought moments of celebration and joy. From the Easter Vigil and International Mass to the Blessed Sacrament procession and the Marian torchlight procession, students experienced the beauty of the universal Church in a powerful and tangible way.

From there, the journey continued into Spain, beginning with a visit to Loyola. At the birthplace of St. Ignatius, students learned about his life and conversion, reflecting on how a single moment of openness to God can transform everything. In Bilbao, the group shifted into a time of cultural exploration, visiting iconic sites such as the Guggenheim Museum, and experiencing the energy of the city. The following days brought them to San Sebastián, where they took in views from Monte Igueldo and enjoyed time along the coast, strengthening friendships through shared experiences. Their journey continued to Santander, where they explored the city and visited the Magdalena Palace, taking time to appreciate both the history and natural beauty of the region. The final major stop brought the group to Covadonga, a place that returned them once again to the heart of pilgrimage. Surrounded by mountains and the serene beauty of the Lakes of Covadonga, students visited the sanctuary, celebrated Mass, and reflected on the many graces of the trip.
