Gemma Maul, Theodore Sasak, and Leo Kratt
“Throughout the month of April, students were asked to focus on living the virtue of cheerfulness. What does this virtue mean to students in the fourth grade? They agreed that qualities of cheerfulness include being happy, greeting others with a smile, treating others with love, bringing cheer and happiness to others, congratulating someone, and supporting one another. As they were discussing these qualities, it reminded us of the Blessed Mother Teresa. “Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing” (Blessed Mother Teresa).
There are several students in the fourth grade who come to the classroom every day with a smile on their face. When they come in in the morning, you can’t help but smile and share in their joy, which then spreads to others. Because of these students’ cheerful nature, our classroom is transformed into a place of happiness, love, and support of one another. Leo Kratt, Teddy Sasak, and Gemma Maul are three students who embody the virtue of cheerfulness. They come in each day with a smile on their face, ready to greet their friends, and are excited to see what lies ahead. Even on tough days, these three students spread their gift of cheerfulness to others. It is with honor and gratitude that I nominate Leo Kratt, Teddy Sasak, and Gemma Maul as April’s Mountaineers of the Month.” -Mrs. Motyka, Fourth-Grade Teacher
