Seungwoo (Jeff) Nam attended Everest Academy during the early years of Everest’s international program. Here he was deeply impacted by Everest’s formation and had the grace to be baptized. Recently, Jeff had the opportunity to visit with Everest’s founding priest, Fr. Lorenzo Gomez, LC. He wrote to Everest to share the following note.
Greetings to my fellow Mountaineers!
My name is Jeff (Seungwoo) Nam, and I am from Seoul, South Korea. I believe I was the first South Korean boarding student at Everest Academy during the years 2000–2001 and 2003. In 2011, I had the privilege of returning to Everest with four Korean students for their winter camp. Everest Academy holds a special place in my heart, as it provided me with strong roots for growth, a foundation of faith, and a passion for leading a successful life.
After graduating from Baylor University in 2010 with a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship, I have been fortunate to build a career in business, specializing in sales planning, operations, and marketing. I currently work for Uneekor, a golf simulator company, where I oversee the European and Middle Eastern markets, as well as the B2B channel for the U.S. business.
Yesterday, I had the profound honor of meeting my spiritual father, Father Gomez, near Los Angeles. He baptized me and graciously gave me his last name, Lorenzo. Out of deep respect for his lifelong dedication, I wanted to share this meaningful experience with you. I also want to acknowledge the incredible work you all continue to do—helping individuals live with faith in God and develop confidence free from fear.
Thank you for your unwavering dedication. I sincerely hope to visit one day in the near future. I would also like to express my deep gratitude to Mr. Richard Cross, Mr. Chris Cross, Mr. Greg Reichert, Mr. Doug Weisbrod, and Mrs. Mikulec, and to all the staff members whose guidance and support have left a lasting impact on me.
Warm regards,
Jeff (Seungwoo) Nam
