“The Time is Now” was the theme of the senior surprise seminar. After a quick recap of the goals the class set last spring, they participated in an ice breaker game called “Jokers are Wild.” While not much ice may have needed to be broken, this gave them a chance to learn more about each other by discussing their thoughts on several questions. Father Thomas then followed with a questionnaire about being an ideal team player, asking them to respond to prompts on the topics of humility, hunger, and intelligence. “Virtue lies in the middle. Ask yourself, ‘Which one do I need to work on?’” encouraged Father Thomas.
Having never done so before, the class then played an energetic game of Panuela, giving them an opportunity to work together—and have a little fun! To provide further insight into themselves and one another, they learned about the Five Love Languages. Parker Stalcup stated, “Knowing this helps us understand people.” Graysen Harris liked learning “what your top [love languages] are and how you could apply it in life.”
The day ended with a pizza party, where they ate some and “made” one. Using different types of toppings, each group named things that the class could do during the course of the year to further their understanding of one another and grow in unity. As a reminder of their commitment to one another, the pizza will hang in the senior lounge.
