The first month for international students at Everest can be overwhelming, but also a lot of fun. While students have a required level of English proficiency to attend Everest, the experience of finding themselves in a new country with a new culture and all new surroundings creates a challenge for our students. The first weeks involve much learning and growth, while also enjoying many fun outings and school traditions. Before they know it, international students are understanding everything teachers and peers are saying to them, are building new strong friendship within the program and with local day students, and are feeling at home at Everest.
The first few weeks of September students have enjoyed after school clinics, Friday night football games, minigolf, a zipline and obstacle course, and even a trip to a college football game at MSU for the boys. Juan Marco Perez said he loved being at the football game. He’s also a huge football fan in general, so it was an extra treat for him!! The boys and girls also participated in a special Mexican party to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day. They ate authentic Mexican food and played various games.
