“Let the Christ in you find the Christ in others.” This is the theme of Everest’s annual initiative in support of national bullying prevention month. Faculty and staff where shirts with this slogan every Wednesday. Various initiatives and activities accompany the theme throughout the month. Deans of discipline, Mr. Cross and Mrs. Van Wagoner, visit classrooms to discuss kindness. EC student government is running a “Kit Kats for Kindness” challenge. Each Wednesday, they will read a challenge over the announcements and put it into lucky student’s lockers as a fun reminder to be extra kind. The first week’s challenge is: “When you see someone that is hanging out by him or herself, find a way to go out of your way to include him/her.” Academy students participate in a similar “golden ticket” campaign nominating peers who they see being kind. Later this month, guest speaker Ben Tracey will present to middle school and high school students on digital citizenship and responsible social media use. An optional parent presentation will also be held in the evening.
