Middle school students recently shared their reflections on the first month of the school year. The year is already flying by quickly and has been full of activities from CYO sports, to drama tryouts, the homecoming pep rally, Founders’ Day, MS integration day, and the upcoming B16 tournament! A highlight for many middle school students has been building friendships with the international students.

“My first month at Everest has been very exciting. I’ve made so many friends with the international students and with my old classmates. I love being able to go to class and know that I’m welcome and that I’ll have fun. I’m very eager to see how the rest of the year goes, I’m looking forward to all our big trips and other fun occasions.” -Carrie Walker

“My first month here at Everest has been great. I’ve gotten to meet so many new people due to the international program. Getting to see all my friends and make new friends has been really fun. My favorite part so far has been going to the football games. I like the football games because you get to hang out with your friends and learn more about the new students. Everyone has fun and makes lots of memories. I’ve also gotten to play volleyball and get to know my new teammates even more. – Leah Westlake

“My first month at Everest this year has been really exciting as an eighth grader. I instantly made new friends with our international students, that we get the fortune of having here. I’m so glad we are finally the leaders of middle school and look forward to the special activities that we as eighth graders get to do.” -Leightyn Sakalian

“My first month at Everest this year was fun because I became friends with some of the international students in my grade.” -Lila Wolcott

“The first month of school at Everest is pretty much getting you into the cycle for the year. I love meeting all new international students and to learn more about their culture. It is nice to go back and see all my friends I didn’t see over the summer and to just talk to them again. We also get to know the new teachers and their ways of teaching.” -Allison Schmitt

“One thing that I like about being in middle school at Everest is that along with the higher expectations come the more opportunities, like having full sized lockers to be able to hold all of our many books. Another thing that I like is religion class. The teacher, Mrs. Tennies, is great. Every Wednesday we have journaling time after we read some Bible verses. Every Friday, at the beginning of class, we go down to the chapel. On Mary’s birthday we all made cards and went down to the chapel to pray.” -Helene Farrell
