Both junior kindergarten and kindergarten participated in their annual mother and child retreats recently. Since junior kindergarten’s retreat was the day before the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, they made and colored a paper chapel, with a paper Our Lady in it. They also received a handout with an outline of a rosary on it so they can color each bead for every Hail Mary they pray. They can then give that page to someone indicating how much they prayed for that person.
October is consider the month of the rosary because of the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary. So kindergarteners made a paper decade of the rosary with the prayers written out on each part of the rosary. This will serve as a guide as they learn to read so they can say the prayers by themselves. Then, in order to get to know each other better, they wrote down on cards their favorite things, and then used these cards to play a game of memory. In all the games of memory that were played, not one parent won.
