The last year of sports seasons has been challenging. The 20-21 winter sports season has been no different with a delayed start and much uncertainty, but EC competitive cheer showed up with a record-setting season. The team faced changed match set-ups with a combined division CHSL championship and more this season, making the competition more demanding. They rose to the occasion consistently scoring in the top tier with first and second place wins. As CHSL Championship finalists, taking 2nd at districts, advancing to regionals, and coming just 12 points short of qualifying for states, the team also set a program high score of 710.14 points at districts. Congratulations, EC cheer, on a great season!
“We did awesome but didn’t advance. We were 7th in our region, but our scores rank us 8th in the state. Only one team from the other regional scored higher. Eight teams qualify for States, but they take the top four from each region not the top eight scores. Bottom line, it was a very successful season. Our finish at regionals and ranking is a program high. We missed qualifying by 10 points. Our final score at the meet was 701.68.” -Coach Nancy Strach
