“This retreat was the first middle school retreat for both the sixth and seventh grade girls, after last year’s cancellations due to COVID.
The sixth-grade girls had the opportunity to reflect about what true friendship is and the obstacles for flourishing friendships. During the ‘Friendship Games,’ the girls joined forces to defeat the arch-enemies of friendship: criticism, gossip, fear of what others will think, selfishness, negative thinking, and impatience. Each of these enemies had a specific reflection and game to defeat it. Later in the day they had the opportunity to write each other posters to show appreciation and also moments to grow in their friendship with Jesus in Mass and adoration.
The seventh-grade girls focused on self-worth, as knowing themselves unconditionally loved by God. After playing some bonding games, they spent the morning reflecting on the different “masks” girls their age tend to wear and why they wear them. Also, they reflected on their own qualities that remain hidden when they put on a mask and helped each other discover their gifts. Adoration was a highlight, since each girl had the opportunity to kneel before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and break a mask in front of Him, knowing that in His love each of them can find the courage to be who He created her to be.” -Miss Gaby, MS Formation Coordinator
