This week was National Vocation Awareness Week! Everest students have daily interactions with men and women who have dedicated their entire lives to God and his service. This is a week when students learn more about these vocations and pray for our priests and consecrated women in a special way. Students at all grade levels participated in special activities to celebrate this week.

Fr. Thomas at last week’s All Saints’ Day festivities.

Middle school class representatives had a bag with prayer intentions. Classes would draw an intention before class and offer their prayer and work for that intention.

Third-grade students wrote prayers for vocations. The selected prayers were read over the loud speaker at 3:20 before dismissal each day.

Monday: Thank you God for the Earth you made. You have given us wonderful gifts and talents.  Help us to listen and hear your voice.  Help me to listen to what you are trying to tell me. Amen.  By Carl Szasz

Tuesday: God thank you for letting me go to a school that has consecrated and priest in it.  They teach us about you.  I pray that more people will hear your call and choose to follow you as a priest or consecrated, so that more kids can learn about you.  Having more priest and consecrated would help.  Amen.  By Emma Gulda

Wednesday: Dear Lord, Please send more vocations to the world to spread the good news about you, so everyone knows that you lived and died for us.  I want more people to believe in you.  Please help everyone who has a vocation to live the most holy life they can.  We ask this through Christ Our Lord.  Amen.  By Mia Mandzuik

Thursday: Lord, please send us more vocations to help us bring more kindness to this world.  Give us mercy, joy, and happiness.  God please help us listen and open up our minds and hearts to understand your direction and what you want us to do with our lives.  Amen.  By Izzy Wheeler

Friday: Dear St. Alphonsus, patron saint of vocations.  Help all of the students as Everest to open their hearts and minds to follow the vocation that God has called them to.  Help them respond generously and to follow your will either to the priesthood, religious life, consecrated life, or married life.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen  By Ella Cross

The preschool through second graders had special visitor for their Friday Mass with Fr. John Bartunek. After celebrating Mass, Father spent some time visiting classrooms and answering students’ questions.

High school students took time to pray for seminarians this week, those who are studying to become priests. They “adopted” seminarians by cutting out their photos and praying for them.

Thank you to all our priests and consecrated women for your generous service!
