Last week Fr. Thomas, school chaplain, was helping with morning drop-off. At one car, he was inviting a family to the annual blessing of the pets. This event is scheduled on the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4) or the closest date possible. in honor of his love for God’s creatures. Families bring their pets for a short prayer and the sprinkling of holy water on their pets. The student respond, “Yes, we will bring our dog so it doesn’t go to the bathroom in the house any more!”
While we aren’t sure that the blessing will serve that purpose. we were pleased to have Mountaineers and their pets attend the annual event.
