A drama production takes months to prepare. Since early December, nearly 80 Everest students have been working to prepare this year’s spring musical, Children of Eden. The production was scheduled for the weekend of March 13-15. On Thursday, March 12, the situation with the coronavirus outbreak escalated quickly. Educators are Everest Collegiate High School & Academy worked all day to prepare a contingency plan. As decisions to close schools and directives from the governor on large gatherings made the inevitability of postponing the play a reality, students were in the middle of their final dress rehearsal.

Emotions ran high as students faced the uncertainty of the situation. For seniors, many of whom have participated in drama for many years now, this play is their final EC production. As the dress rehearsal progressed, family members, fellow students, and faculty and staff drifted into the gymnasium, providing an unexpected and welcome audience for the cast and crew.

Congratulations to all the cast and crew as well as the Everest faculty led by Mrs. Lia DiFonzo for the hard work put into this spring’s show! We hope that the production will go on later this spring!
