Everest Academy elementary students participated in the launch of reading month on Monday, March 2. Principal Mrs. Sue Ender read the book Mouton’s Impossible Dream by Anik McGrory to lower elementary students. Dean of discipline Mr. Richard Cross read to the upper elementary students.

Each years Everest students set a reading month goal. This year’s lower elementary goal is 532 books. The theme for this year’s reading month is “Up, Up, and Away.” Students will be writing the names of the books they complete on clouds and pasting them in the sky in the academy commons. If students reach their goal they will receive a special prize at the end of the month.

Academy students are also participating in a reading month challenge in cooperation with Culver’s of Clarkston. Students who complete their individual goals will receive a gift certificate to Culver’s. Many thanks to Everest parents Brian and Katie Schmitt as well as librarian Mrs. Julie Werner for organizing this challenge for Everest students.

At the end of the reading month launch, the elementary students released balloons.
