Michigan Youth Leadership (MYLead) is a high school leadership development program. The mission of MYLead is to help young leaders realize their potential and build the confidence to transform that potential into positive action. At their annual conference, rising juniors spend a weekend sharing ideas, hearing from community leaders, motivational speakers, and learning about themselves through personal goal setting and leadership exercises.

EC rising seniors Molly Milosch and Fernando Caccia as well as EC alumni Serena Carter (Class of 2018) attended the conference again this year to volunteer.

Molly reflected on here experience stating that one of the benefits of the conference is that the topics deal with modern things that students go through. She went on to say, “Not only the participants but the returning staff make friends and connections with deeper meaning in two days than with someone they’ve known outside the conference their whole lives. Also the conference changes the way people think about the world and no one goes home the same.”

Serena had this to share, “MYLead is an amazing opportunity for sophomores across Michigan and it allows them to get out of their comfort zone in a fun and accepting environment. It is truly amazing to see the growth in others, and it is even better to see some friendly Everest faces there making a positive influence on today’s youth.”
