Just four days after Everest faculty and staff drove to seniors’ homes, congratulating them, and dropping off yard signs, the senior class submitted a video requesting it be distributed to Everest faculty and staff. “Thank you is not enough of what needs to be said,” Alexander Earnhardt began his video.
“You guys are the best. I don’t think I ever said that,” said Lucas Thewes. Seniors shared what they had learned from teachers both inside and outside the classroom. The students expressed gratitude for all the faculty and staff for forming them into the people they are, helping them grow in their spiritual lives and relationships with Christ, and walking at their sides throughout their years at Everest.
The yard signs for the Class of 2020 read, “Stronger than Circumstance.” The class placed the same title on their video. The seniors once again demonstrate to the Everest community that they are indeed stronger than circumstance when in the midst of loss and a difficult ending to an important chapter in their lives they reach out in gratitude.
Henri Nouwen states, “The discipline of gratitude is the explicit effort to acknowledge that all I am and have is given to me as a gift of love, a gift to be celebrated with joy.”
