This Lent took on a deeper meaning for Everest’s international program, especially for the boys living away from home. Experiencing this season in a new environment made it more intentional. Rather than routine, Lent became a personal opportunity they chose to embrace.
Many of the boys spent more time in the chapel, taking advantage of Christ’s presence in their daily lives. For Patricio Bay, this was especially meaningful. He experienced a deeper closeness to Jesus, recognizing that even far from home, Christ was present with him. His example reflected a broader desire among the boys to grow in prayer and reflection throughout Lent.
Others participated in a Lenten ECYD retreat, setting aside time to reflect and grow alongside their peers. Their Holy Hours also took on a more Lenten focus, creating space for silence and intentional prayer. These moments helped the boys live the season with greater purpose.
For the girls, Lent was lived in a deeply contemplative way. The chapel was transformed into the Garden of Gethsemane, inviting them into Christ’s experience of that night. In silence, prayer, and love, they chose to remain with Him—a simple yet powerful response, because He first remained with us.
