Monday of Catholic Schools Week was a snow day, but one of the day’s special activities was rescheduled: Mountaineer buddies. Each year, high school students spend time visiting with lower school students to celebrate our community. The entire high school student body headed over to the academy building to read with younger Mountaineers.

Junior Bandon Thomas wrote earlier this year about what makes the Everest community unique: “Everest has a very strong faith community. Every class and extra-curricular activity is faith based, and Everest put a big importance into the Catholic aspect of our school. Every Friday we have Mass, and every Wednesday, during lunch, Adoration and Confession are offered. There are also Masses before school everyday. Before class starts and after class ends, we always pray. Everest has helped me to grow in my faith immensely, and I am thankful that Everest has helped me to find my relationship with Christ this early in my life.

An academy student reflected this week, “Everest is so special because of the community. Everest is a Regnum Christi School, which means that we always have priests and consecrated women at the school. Not only the kids but also the parents are so kind and loving, and they care about everyone. The priests are so wonderful, each and every one of them. They will never hesitate to give you Confession or Mass, and I love that about them. Everest is a great private, Catholic school and is very much recommended.”
