Both second grade classrooms had their mother and child retreat on November 12.  They started off the morning with Fr. Christopher in the high school chapel for Mass, during which he explained various aspects of the Mass. Father explained Transubstantiation, how during the consecration the bread and wine change substance, they become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus, even though from our human eyes it seems like nothing has changed. After Mass, the students were excited to go back to their classrooms and pick up a surprise they had made for their mom the day before.  Next, both moms and especially the kids enjoyed playing a game of blob tag in the gym. Then, together they made a craft that represents Transubstantiation, showing how Jesus is hidden in the Eucharist. On the back there is a First Communion certificate they can fill out after they receive their First Communion. We continue to pray for our second graders during this special sacramental year.
