The junior kindergarten class had their mother and child retreat the day after the Feast of the Rosary. The Catholic Church dedicates October to the Rosary because Pope St. Pius V instituted the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7, 1571, in thanksgiving for the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto, which he attributed to the power of the Rosary after having asked all Christians to pray the Rosary. In 1884, Pope Leo XIII formally dedicated the entire month of October to the Rosary to ask God’s help for the Church.  So the junior kindergarten students together with their moms made a small shrine of Mary that they could bring home and remind them to pray the Rosary. They also went to Mass and got to do a freeze dance together.
