Last year, on its 30th anniversary, Everest celebrated its first Founders’ Day on the Feast of our Our Lady of Sorrows. We recall on this special feast day the blessings of our founding families and of our founding priest, Fr. Lorenzo Gomez, LC. This event provides us an opportunity to recall the special personal charism that Fr. Gomez brought to Everest – no different than the charism of Regnum Christi, but always presented in a way that directed the focus of every minute of our time spent with students toward the nurturing of a personal love for Jesus Christ.
Everest students celebrated the day with an all-school Mass with students from preschool through twelfth grade. Fr. Thomas Salazar, LC, gave the homily about Our Lady and how we make our heavenly mother happy by the way that we love. Students enjoyed popsicles at lunchtime in honor of the day.
