This past weekend, thespians from Everest Collegiate travelled to Lansing for the return of the in-person Michigan Thespian Festival. Everest drama teacher, Mrs. DiFonzo shared, “It’s a state-wide festival that thespians participate in where they can receive individualized support from local professionals, audition for scholarships, attend workshops, and enjoy shows by area schools.  The accent workshops and meditation for scene work workshops were popular with our students.  They enjoyed watching I Hate Hamlet, produced by Detroit Country Day, and they viewed some incredible student performances.  A favorite was a dance to Wait for Me from the current touring Broadway show, Hadestown.

Junior Mary Pearson was enthusiastic when she found out there was a playwrighting workshop next year and hopes to start work on a script right away!  Another highlight was seeing the collection taken up to support Oxford High School’s theatre department.  The students overall were so grateful to be back in person, and you could see their enthusiasm in their work this weekend.”
