Today the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program announced the names of the semifinalists in the 67th National Merit Scholarship Program. Everest is pleased to recognized senior Nate Beggs as a semifinalist.

“These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarship worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements…”

Nate is part of a national pool of 16,000 scholars representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Nate’s scholarship application will provide evidence of his academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, and more. “A semifinal must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT and ACT scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test.” (The PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test.) Nate certainly demonstrates all those qualities as described by school counselor Mrs, Krogh and The Clarkston News earlier this year after he achieved a perfect score on the ACT.

National Merit Scholarship winners of 2022 will be announced beginning in April. Congratulations, Nate, on your outstanding achievement. #SemperAltius
