EC alum, Anthony Felix, and freshman Noah Arbogast led the pack early at this morning’s EC 5K for a Cause benefitting Angel’s Place. Following morning Mass, Paul Maxwell, who helps organize and direct the annual Angel’s Place Race event held in Clarkston, addressed the student body. He thanked the students for their support, shared his history with Angel’s Place, and referenced Fr. Brian’s homily about the importance of taking action.

The rain didn’t deter the walkers and runners from heading out to lap the school. Anthony Felix, Class of 2021, and freshman Noah Arbogast led the pack early and held strong claiming first and second place respectively. Junior Johnny Morrison took third. For the women, the top group paced closely together throughout the race, with varsity cross country runner Avery Herrgott leading the group into the final turn, but Miss Mellis claimed the prize in the sprint to the finish. Avery took second. Varsity cross country runners Caroline Cross and Alyse Felix tied for third.

Academy students were invited to participate in support of the cause by bringing in a dollar in support of Angel’s Place. The day wasn’t short on charity when junior Johnny Nedwick invited second-place finisher Noah Arbogast – both of whom had finished the race – to join him in accompanying faculty member Mr. Nguyen on his final wet, chilly lap. The spirit of the entire day was of support for a great cause despite the nasty weather.

Thank you, student government, for organizing a successful event. Thank you faculty, staff, student, and alumni for coming out! Semper Altius!
