May is a month in which Catholics around the world honor Mary, Our Mother. Everest students begin this month with the annual May crowning, usually on the First Friday of the month. In the high school, this honor is carried out by the sophomore class. Just as the the juniors embrace their new role as rising seniors in the senior transition ceremony, the sophomore class is recognized as rising upperclassmen.

The early morning rain broke for students to process outside to the statue of Our Lady in the front parking lot. The sophomore class led a decade of the rosary, Amelia Shripka and Luke Walker crowned Our Lady, and the school prayed the consecration to Mary. Next week, the academy students will participate in May crowning ceremonies as well.
