Friday, October 2, was the feast of the guardian angels. Each year on this day lower elementary students in preschool through second grade celebrate God’s special protectors, their guardian angels.

“From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. ‘Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.'” –Catechism of the Catholic Church 336

Each year, fifth-grade students prepare special activities for younger students. Due to COVID restrictions, the day had to be adapted but students still made the most of it. Fifth grader made preparations for the younger students even if they couldn’t be physically present for the activities. Lower elementary students learned more about their guardian angels in their classrooms and during the regular Friday Mass. Fr. Thomas spoke about how our guardian angels watch over us and protect us.

Classes had coloring contests, sported pipe cleaner “halos,” and participated in fun activities. Thank you, God, for watching over Everest students and giving us special protectors, our guardian angels!
