After snow days, ice days, cold days, and a polar vortex, the annual EC celebration of Catholic Schools Week with the EC winter games finally commenced. Could it be a part of the conspiracy theorist’s believed rigging of the games?

The faculty and staff, ever interested in student success, were able to adjust the schedule of the games to fit all the activities into three short days. Sports day began with a decade of rosary for the nation and Mass to celebrate Catholic School Week. This year’s theme for the winter games, chosen by student council, was “Travel Through Time.” Each class chose a decade and a class name. The annual pain the rock competition was replaced with a canvas decorating competition due to the bitter cold temperatures.

Saturday night brought the EC winter dance – the Decades Dance.

Twin day brought the celebration of our community and our students. The annual hallway decorating competition. The juniors won the competition followed by the freshmen, the seniors, and the sophomores.

The shortened week wrapped up with the lip sync battle and the winter games themselves. The seniors took first and second in the lip sync battle with Mike Jones & Ethan Dexter in first and the whole senior class in second for their performance of High School Musical’s “We’re all in this Together.”

Each activity during the week had a point value. When all the points were added up, the Schweet Seniors claimed the win once again and won the coveted day off of school.
