The EC soccer team made school history this week earning their first trip to the D4 state finals. Prior to three years ago, the EC soccer banner hung blank in the gym. That would quickly change. The team has claimed back-to-back-to-back district and regional titles, only to come up short in the semifinal the past two years.
This year’s story was different. The Mountaineers once again found themselves taking the field in at Troy Athens High School. Instead of trailing, they took the lead with 6:41 remaining in the first half with a goal by freshman Mark Cross. The Mountaineers held off the Chargers of Allen Park Inter-City Baptist. through the second half.
The Mountaineers will play on Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Novi High School against Potter’s House Christian. Fr. Thomas Salazar, LC, gave the team a special blessing after Mass on Friday. Elementary students prepared special signs to wish the team luck. Let’s go, Mountaineers! Tickets for the game can be purchased online. Parking is $5.
