After going 1-9 in the regular season, the Everest Collegiate soccer team (co-oped with Academy of the Sacred Heart) has turned things around in the post-season. Scoring six points in every game, the Mountaineer-Gazelle co-op has dominated the district tournament picking up wins against Parkway Christian (6-1) on 5/22, Waterford Our Lady of the Lake (6-0) on 5/28, and finally claiming the district title against Oakland Christian (6-0) on 5/30. The team advances to the regional semifinal against Marine City Cardinal Mooney at Goodrich High School on Tuesday, June 4 at 5:30 P.M. This title makes the Mountaineers 7th district title in the ten years since EC opened its doors.

Head coach Rich Cross attributes the team’s post-season success to the hard work the team put in during the regular season against tough opponents in the Catholic High School League as well as to the team never getting a chance to show their true potential. They battled the spring weather and several team member injuries throughout the regular season. They are finally at full strength and demonstrating their true potential in the post-season tournament.
