Clarkston, MI – Once again, Everest Collegiate High School & Academy was recognized as a Catholic Education Honor Roll School. The national Honor Roll program is directed by the Cardinal Newman Society and has recognized over 300 high-performing Catholic high schools nationwide since the program’s inception in 2004.
Everest was first awarded this recognition in 2012 when the award was overseen by the Acton Institute and entitled the Nation’s Top 50 Catholic High Schools. Everest received the award for the second time in 2014 as a School of Excellence, with the recognition now being managed by the Cardinal Newman Society. Everest has now earned this honor for its third time, receiving distinction as part of the Cardinal Newman Society’s Catholic Education Honor Roll.
Everest Collegiate High School & Academy engaged in a thorough internal and external review of its comprehensive program offerings before being awarded this status. It has received specific recognition for its strong integration of Catholic identity throughout its efforts, including the integrity of its mission, and the strength of its community and rich spiritual live. The Honor Roll also recognized the school’s efforts at integral formation of the minds, bodies, and spirits of its students as well as its comprehensive academic program which seeks to instill a Christian vision of the world and human wisdom and culture.
“The Honor Roll is a helpful tool for families and benefactors in recognizing the quality of a Catholic high school,” said Patrick J. Reilly, president of The Cardinal Newman Society. “It is external validation that a school is both focused and successful in meeting the high calling of Catholic schools to serve the well-being and salvation of students and to serve the common good.”
Dr. Denise Donohue, coordinator of the Honor Roll, stated, “We are very pleased to have Everest Collegiate High School & Academy join in the nationally recognized ranks of excellence; this is a select group. The school has well demonstrated they are successful in meeting the key principles that guide Catholic education.”
Everest Collegiate High School & Academy’s headmaster Greg Reichert remarked, “We’re proud to receive this award that marks the efforts of so many at Everest who help us to achieve academic excellence, enlivened through the gift of our Catholic faith. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Cardinal Newman Society and other excellent Catholic schools
who have achieved this honor through a focused dedication to the mission of Catholic education. There is also special excitement that comes with the timing of this award, as we are affirmed in a shared mission made more pronounced by our Archbishop Allen Vigneron in his call to all Catholic schools to do their part to help Unleash the Gospel.”
