The sixth-grade girls’ class braved the brisk air and partially snow-covered acres of the Dominican Monastery of Mt. Thabor in Ortonville on November 20. The girls raked and hauled leaves to help in beautifying the convent grounds. After hauling dozens of tarps full of leaves, they finished the day by jumping into a 6 ft. tall pile of half-frozen leaves. The girls worked extremely hard and the sisters admired their tenacity in working in the cold!
Prior to setting to work, the students had the opportunity to spend fifteen minutes with Sr. Mary Agnes OP, asking questions about the Dominican contemplative religious life. The highlight of the day was celebrating the 11:oo A.M. Mass with the nuns in their beautiful chapel. The chaplain gave a wonderful homily directly for the girls.
Thank you to Mr. Delisle for organizing this traditional apostolic project for the sixth-grade class.
