For the fifth year in a row, Everest hosted a presentation by Education Planning Resources, Inc (EPR). The company, which was founded in 2008, provides the knowledge and strategies needed to reduce the cost of a college education. Every October, representatives from EPR come to campus to present to Everest families, helping our parents get an idea of the bigger picture of funding a college education.

Many parents assume that getting access to the most aid for college is just a matter of purchasing a 529 plan and filling out the FAFSA when their child is a senior. In reality, college costs are just one of the larger expenses in the life of a family, and a strategic plan can help you get the most out of your financial aid. Jim DeWitt, Education Specialist for EPR, spent 45 minutes giving Everest parents a sense of how he can provide strategies that reduce college costs and parent loans while increasing retirement income. Feedback from parents at the end of the presentation was overwhelmingly positive, with several exclamations of “I had no idea!” Many Everest alumni and their parents have found success working with EPR in the past.

EPR works with families for no fee. If you’re interested in learning more, it’s never too early to get started!
