The Mountaineer of the Month recognition is granted to students in grades JK-5 who have distinguished themselves by living out the specific virtue of the month. Our Mountaineers of the month were recognized at this week’s academy assembly.
Zekie Abraham was the Mountaineer of the Month for August. Third-grade teacher Mrs. Ohlinger spoke highly of Zekie’s self-discipline, “Every morning Zekie is faithful to follow our class procedure, and he is prepared for class. He is a row leader and shows great self-discipline by lining up quickly and quietly. Zekie stays at his seat and finishes all of his classwork, and when he completes his task, he reads quietly at his seat.”
Gigi Dietrich and Benjamin Sarnecki were recognized as Mountaineers of the Month for September for their living of the virtue of charity.
“Gigi is a smiley girl who is willing to go out of her way for her friends,” said second-grade teacher Miss Wildrick. “She is kind, funny, loyal, helpful, and always uses her manners.”
“Benjamin Sarnecki has exemplified the virtue of charity all month,” explained junior kindergarten teacher Mrs. Reichert. “Every day Benjamin does something nice to help his classmates and his teacher. He is quick to notice the needs of others and is usually the first one to offer help.”
