Everest Academy recently hosted its annual Spelling Bee finals. The top three students from each in-class competition had the opportunity to compete in the finals. The Fifth through Eighth grade students competed to determine who would have the opportunity to go to the Oakland Press Regional Spelling Bee. The winner of the Regional event will compete at the finals in Washington D.C.

In the Fifth through Eight grade competition, Lucas Shea (5B) was the champion overall. The competition lasted 32 rounds, including more than 150 words and a tough three-way battle. Erin Carr (6G) finished in second place and Minjae Kim (6B) in third place.

In the Third through Fourth Grade girls’ competition, Zoe Abraham (4G) took first place followed by Madelyn Gulda (4G) in second place and Virginia Groves (3G) in third place.

In the Third and Fourth Grade boys’ competition, Brandon Thomas (3B) took first place followed by Cameron Tong (4B) in second place and Dylan Smith (4B) in third place.
