Everest Honors Fall Athletes
The Everest Collegiate community gathered on Sunday, November 6, to honor EC fall season athletes. The morning began with Fr. Daniel Pajerski celebrating Mass, followed by a short overview of each sports program, and then individual team awards ceremonies.
EC Athletic Director Ann Lowney discussed what makes Everest and our high school athletes unique. “I am proud to say that this is the first season since we opened the high school that we have been able to offer five fall sports to our students and none of the teams were involved in a co-op,” she said. “So I thought it would be interesting to see if schools with similar enrollment numbers had the same dedication as our student-athletes when it comes to their love for sports. The first two schools I looked at had enrollment numbers of 117 and 116 students. Each school offered eight-man football, and didn’t offer girls’ golf or boys’ soccer. The next school was the same size as Everest and offered eight-man football and didn’t offer boys’ soccer. The final school, which had 114 students, didn’t offer football, cross country or girls’ golf. What does all this mean? It’s simple. Our student-athletes are special! They understand the value athletics plays in their life and they embrace it. Therefore, on behalf of everyone affiliated with Everest, I would like to say thank you to the 67 young men and women who participated in our fall athletic program.”
