On Wednesday, June 15, the Everest Collegiate/Academy of the Sacred Heart soccer team hosted their annual soccer banquet to end a great season.  The team advanced to the Regional finals and came in second in the Catholic League.  During the playoffs, the Mountaineers outscored their first 4 opponents 22-1. They won the District title 3-1 against Oakland Christian, and advanced to the “Elite 8”.  They lost a heart-breaker in the final game of Regional play against 4th ranked Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett, 1-0.

“Everest hit the post twice, but couldn’t put it in the back of the net,” said head coach Rich Cross. “Liggett scored early on an unfortunate bounce and it was a battle in the midfield between both teams with not a lot of shots on goal.  It was a great season by the girls, and one they will never forget.”
